Heavy - Series Premiere Tonight on A&E

A&E has a new series out premiering tonight called Heavy.  As popular as "The Biggest Loser" is and has been I think after watching just one episode that this is a much better approach to show what it really is like to be overweight, and what it really takes to make the lifestyle change that it is going to take if these individuals really want to change their lives for the better.

HEAVY - A&E’s docudrama Heavy follows twenty-two individuals facing extreme life-threatening health consequences as a result of their obesity. The one-hour series follows two participants per episode documenting their incredible transformations during a six month treatment program. read more

Tonight's episode starts with Tom & Jodi and gives a little bit of their background, how they got where they are today, and how they are currently living.  They then are taken to a facility where they will spend the first 30 days of their journey where they will start..... the hardest part of their journey.  It is an exciting time when they get to go home after the 30 days of learning what they need to do and how they should be eating.  They have both experienced ups and downs with their emotions and a good beginning to their weight loss, but the real question is will they be able to maintain the momentum they have created or will they be forced back to the facility where they started.

The Season Premiere is tonight at 10/9c on A&E and I think it is a must see.  It really shows what it is like to live and to lose weight for the extremely obese.  It is not a game or a competition, but it is real life for millions of Americans.  I believe this series will give many people hope, and not just dreams like other programs do.

I think this is a "don't miss" new series.  The only downside to me is that it has the 10:00 pm time slot.  In my very humble opinion sleep is very important to a healthier lifestyle, and by putting this on at 10:00 pm it is promoting just the opposite.  So, take my advice and record it if you must, but give it a go for at least one episode and I think you will agree.

Why not take a minute and check out the Heavy Fanpage and Like it so you can be aware of upcoming episodes.  You can also find out more information about this new series at their website www.aetv.com/heavy

*full disclosure - I was provided with a pre-screening of tonight's episode
